| it looks like on the side there is an headphone jack and a jack under it, see if u can find out if thats a line out, if it is a line in u can buy one and convert them to have a line out n run it through the microphone jack of a laptop so you can use wavepad | |

| Yes it was Tommy and it actually turned out to be a good piece of equipment, I didnt think it was going to work but it actually did, the same with thr ghost box I bought, it really impressed me after 2 awesome responses I asked for and got from it and got on audio. They both were $30 each at Radio Shack | |

| Im glad you found this, i have been working on a parabolic mic and this is what i needed. You can run this device through the mic to amplify the sounds then use a splitter to run it to the DG, then upload it to your comp! good find Christel!!!! below is the link to build this mic, but instead of the umbrella you should use a harder surface like a metal dish because the umbrella will absorb the sounds. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BvP0OlfXaSU | |

| Yea, when we were with our other group, 1 of the guys bought a parabolic mic, I dont like em, they pick up from too far away and could be picking up living peoples voices | |

| OK, That's a Radio Shack amplified speaker and telephone pickup coil. The amp'ed speaker has both an input and output jack for the audio. The other side of the device has a jack to hookup external power. If you keep the volume low, you should be able to connect the audio out to the mic input of a digital audio recorder(DAR). Or... you could run a line out from the speaker output and split the signal off into 2 sets of wires with one set of wires going to the headphones and the other (with a 2.2K ohm resistor in series)to a DAR. I've never tried the magnetic pick up before, but I bet I could use that with my 2 channel audio mixer project along with the mic input. That way you could record both sides of the conversation, and listen to the responses (if any) in real time. Thanks for the idea, I'll have to try it and see what happens. Just be careful though, the magnetic pick up may be sensitive to 60 Hz noise. BTW, if you take two of the amplifled speakers don't put a signal into the first one, take it's output and run it into the second one's input then turn the volume up on both devices, it makes a pretty good white noise generator.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BvP0OlfXaSU But wouldn't you have to calculate the focal point of the dish to achieve the best audio? There some kid's toy stores that sell a pretty good dish for around $30.00

| I have used the kids parabolic mic before and it worked great!
The dish and the mic from the kids toy are small, making your own with a big dish and a good mic would be fun and it is not hard to find the focal point.
