Personal Opinions On Safety

If you were training a person to become a paranormal investigator, what would be the first 5 things you would tell them as far as being safe goes?

1. Know your fellow investigators, know that they are not going to be out doing things to make you look bad or get you into a criminal or civil lawsuite.
2. Be aware of your surroundings, you dont want to have a wire wrapped around your ankle that you didn't know was there, which causes you to trip and fall.
3. I would say investigating sober is the best way. Judgement is the first to go when drinking.
4. Carry a first aid kit handy in case you get an injury.
5. A phone near by to dial 911 for emergencies. We can't help the client if we ourselves become the paranormal.

on a serious note:
1. flashlight & spare batteries
2. appropriate clothing and footwear, dress for the weather and the terrain, i.e.: don't wear flip-flops if it's rocky; if it's cold, wear a coat, etc...
3. proper identification and signed consent/permission form from the client or person responsible for the property
4. cell phone and contact info for clients, area emergency agencies, co-investigators, etc..
5. let someone not on the investigation know when, where, and with whom you are investigating with; if possible, leave names, numbers, addresses and times of the investigation
6. plan out your investigation site, make a quick diagram of the site and list hazzards and possible danger zones
7. NEVER investigate alone... ALWAYS investigate with a team mate, the more the merrier and SAFER!
8. NEVER investigate a site without permission from the responsible party of the site

i used to be a firefighter and safety officer and supervisor/training officer for several security companies...so, safety is kinda my thang, LOL!
